Solar Electric Systems

More commonly called Photovoltaic Solar or PV Systems, solar electricity is generated through modules usually installed on the roof with wiring that goes through an inverter to convert 24 volt power to 110.

The size of your system will depend on your electricity usage as well as the size of your budget. For example, an electric bill of $200 in a reasonably sunny area would require a 4.0 KW system, or about 16 PV Modules. A ballpark cost on this is about $25,000. Sounds like a lot, doesn’t it?

Do keep in mind that the tax credits are huge. 30% Federal, and 35% State, The tax credits on the above system would be: $12,500, so your net cost after credits would be $12,500, which converts to about an 8 year payback.

With a 25 year warranty on the PV Modules and 10 years on the inverter, you can’t go wrong!
